Ocean Drive
Behind the wheel of his restored Hino Contessa, a lone guy races down the neon-lit and rain-soaked ocean road as the Miami sunset fades into night. It’s not just a drive, it’s a ritual of freedom.

Starting with the concept, our goal was to capture the classic GTA-inspired aesthetic.
We began by gathering and analyzing reference materials to define and refine the visual direction.
The base model was created in 3ds Max. It was simple and low-poly, but it provided a solid foundation for further refinement and detailing in Unreal Engine.
Creating a realistic asphalt material is a challenging process. It involves seamlessly blending multiple roughness and color maps, carefully managing texture tiling to maintain consistency, and minimizing visible repetition. Techniques such as vertex painting help break up patterns and introduce subtle variations, resulting in a more natural and convincing surface.
On the car side, we re-textured several parts of the car and created both emissive and dirt masks to blend the materials seamlessly within Unreal Engine.
Finally, we brought everything together in Unreal Engine. After experimenting with various camera angles to find the most compelling composition, we spent several days adding additional meshes, refining the set dressing, and fine-tuning the sky color and lighting. Once the scene felt balanced and cohesive, we rendered the final shot.
